Mantra in Canberra.jpg

Mantra Group has secured the leasehold for a new Mantra branded full-service hotel in Canberra city to open late 2016.

An existing office tower, located on the corner of Northbourne and McCarthur Avenues in the inner city suburb of Turner, will be converted into a 176 room hotel, as part of a new master planned mixed-use precinct.  The development is part of the urban renewal of Canberra’s key inner city suburbs by delivering an attractive mix of residential, retail and commercial uses.

The property will be known as Mantra Canberra Hotel and will offer a mix of 136 hotel rooms and 40 suites across eight accommodation levels. Careful consideration has been given to creating flexibility in bedroom configuration by cleverly using interconnecting functionality between suites and hotel rooms to allow for convenient two bedroom suite room types.

Gem uncovered at Primus Sydney

Primus Hotel Sydney - Lobby

This week saw the reinstatement of Sydney’s former Water Board headquarters reach a pivotal phase in the construction process, as the historic 1939 art deco building transforms into the CBD’s newest 5-star property; Primus Hotel Sydney.

A construction team of 30orchestrated for the final piece of the new glazing to be lifted via crane and suspended into position over the restored original ‘laylight’ glazing, casting light on the lobby of the heritage listed building that has lay vacant and concealed for over 60 years.

The development of Primus Hotel Sydney marks the revival of the original building at 339 Pitt Street – that once served as the offices of the Sydney Metropolitan Water Sewerage and Drainage (M.W.S.& D.) Board. Upon completion, the opulent space will be transformed in a 172-room hotel, spanning six floors, with key offerings including a destination restaurant and bar, Presidential Suite, ballroom and rooftop infinity pool and lounge.

Key to the re-instatement of the building is to protect its legacy, paying homage to its essence of functionality and conserving decorative detailing including 8m tall red scagliola columns in the lobby, glazed ceramic tiling and solid timber paneling.

HotelTonight has officially launched in Dubai, now giving leisure travellers, business people and those looking to live life more spontaneously, access to great rooms in Dubai at a reduced rate, as hotels look to fill unsold rooms at the last minute.
