TAA appoints new board member

Peak tourism and accommodation body, Tourism Accommodation Australia, has a new board member for its NSW office– Jane Lyons.

TAA NSW CEO Michael Johnson said Lyons, general manager of Hyatt Regency Sydney, has a wealth of experience and will be a great addition to the board.

“Jane has more than two decades of experience in luxury and premium hotels and has worked across many different departments in cities across the world,” Johnson said.

“She currently manages the nation’s largest hotel and her fresh voice will be welcome as we continue to recover from the toughest period for our industry in living memory.”

Originally from Melbourne, Lyons has spent more than 25 years navigating various roles across hotel departments internationally and in Australia including front office, finance, rooms, operations and management.

With a degree in travel and tourism management from Melbourne’s Victoria University, she has worked for various hotel management companies including Starwood in both Melbourne and Sydney, The Langham in London and New York and Hilton in Sydney.

She took the helm of the 888 room Hyatt Regency Sydney in May 2020.

Under her leadership, the property’s bars and restaurants have been recognised in both state and national awards for excellence including at the HM Awards and MEA Awards.

“The entire TAA NSW board has welcomed Jane to the team and look forward to working with her,” Johnson said.
