Silversea ocean cruising heads Down Under after 1000+ days

Silversea Cruises has returned to ocean sailing in the waters of the Asia Pacific region after more than 1,000 days, with Silver Muse departing on an 18-day voyage from Singapore to Sydney today.

While Silversea has operated a successful season in the Australian Kimberley region aboard its expedition ship Silver Explorer, Silver Muse’s arrival marks the return of ocean cruising in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia.

“The excitement is palpable as Silver Muse sets sail on her long-awaited voyage, marking Silversea’s celebrated return to Asia and Australia,” Silversea managing director APAC Adam Radwanski said.

“Spirits are at a record high today among staff in the office, our crew, our trade partners, and our guests. It is surely our most anticipated Asian and Australian season yet.

Silver Muse is our first ocean liner in the Asia-Pacific seas in more than 1,000 days. It is so rewarding after such a long wait.

“We will have three ships in the Asia Pacific this season, reflecting a significant commitment to the region. Silversea is investing heavily in the Asia Pacific and has seen tremendous growth in this market, and we predict a long and successful return to these seas.”

The decision to depart from Singapore is a confirmation of Silversea’s commitment to the region and successful partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). This includes its largest deployment of ships for the luxury cruise market in Asia, including the inaugural calls of its newest ship, Silver Nova, which is slated to set sail from Singapore in 2024.

Jacqueline Ng, director for cruise, Singapore Tourism Board, said: “We are very excited to announce this first-ever partnership with Silversea Cruises. Their presence in the region will further strengthen Southeast Asia’s attractiveness as a cruising destination.

“Silversea Cruises will be instrumental in growing the appeal of luxury cruising for many travellers from Asia. We look forward to an exciting calendar of itineraries for the region in the coming years with Silversea Cruises.”

Joining Silver Muse in Australia from the Silversea fleet is Silver Whisper, who will arrive in December, followed by Silver Shadow who arrives in Sydney in January to commence the World Cruise 2023–the first time a Silversea World Cruise has departed from any Australian city.
