Rail Europe adds panoramic Swiss journeys via B2B websites, API

Rail Europe has announced that the Swiss panoramic train journeys of the Glacier Express and Bernina Express are now available on its B2B websites and via its API.

“As Switzerland is one of Rail Europe’s top destinations, the expansion of our offer holds many promises for our global development,” CEO of Rail Europe, Björn Bender, said.

GM of APAC, Richard Leonard, added that post pandemic, Switzerland has emerged as a top mono European destination to explore, so these timely additions make it even easier for advisors to secure their tickets for such iconic Swiss Scenic Trains such as the Glacier Express and Bernina Express.

The Glacier Express, dubbed the “slowest express train in the world”, is a 7½ hour train ride between Zermatt and St. Moritz, crossing 291 bridges, passes through 91 tunnels and ascends up to 2,033m, the highest point of the track.

The Bernina Express is a four hour journey between Chur in the north and Tirano in the south, travels across 122km, passing through 55 tunnels and crossing an impressive 196 bridges and viaducts, including the UNESCO World Heritage listed site of the Rhaetian Railway’s Albula Line. In summer, there is also an extended service on the Bernina Express bus that connects Tirano to Lugano in three hours.

Advisors have been reminded that the Swiss Travel Pass provides holders unlimited travel on all of Switzerland’s public transportation system of train, buses and ferries, grants up to 50 per cent off cableways; free access to more than 500 museums across the country; and free travel for accompanying children under 16yo.
