Qantas launch fourth new route since COVID border restrictions relaxed

Qantas has launched its fourth new route from Melbourne since border restrictions were relaxed last year in its new Melbourne to Jakarta direct flight.

Offering a choice of ten flights per week, and nearly 300,000 annual seats, QF39 departed Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport for the first time yesterday at 4:47pm, scheduled to land at Indonesia largest airport around 8:20pm.

Connecting flights are also available for travellers wishing to head on to Delhi, Dallas-Fort Worth and Tokyo Haneda which replaced flights to Tokyo-Narita.

According to Qantas Domestic and International CEO, Andrew David, the airline has seen a, “really strong demand for travel to and from Melbourne, so we’re pleased to be expanding out international network with another route out of Victoria,” he said.

“Jakarta is becoming an increasingly important destination for our corporate travellers.

“These direct flights offer more choice and make it even easier for them to do business with one of Australia’s closest neighbours.

“The route is also a great opportunity for more Indonesians to explore the best of Victoria or visit family and friends, with the flights launching in time for the Lebaran holiday period.

“We’d like to thank the Victorian Government and Melbourne Airport for their support on the launch of this new route.”
