Qantas A380 flight from Los Angeles to Sydney delayed after emergency slide deploys before take-off

after extinguishing an aircraft engine fire

A Qantas flight from Los Angeles to Sydney was delayed on Monday night (local time) after an emergency slide was reported to have been accidentally deployed just before take-off.

Data from flight tracking websites show QF12 departing Los Angeles around 3 hours late, arriving in Sydney on Wednesday morning.

Twitter user Janet M was onboard the flight and tweeted about the incident not long after it happened.

“Well this will be interesting (not). #qantas QF12 from LAX to Sydney not going anywhere as emergency shute activated as they closed doors. Have taken us all off and plonked us in lounge. Bar not open though!”

The lack of alcohol in the Qantas lounge also got the attention of Paul Sanders a day earlier, who called it “un-Australian”

“We have officially lost it, no beer in the Qantas lounge at LAX. Go buy some stubbies or tinnies #useyourbrains #unaustralian
@Qantas”

Qantas has been contacted for comment about the incident.
