New data highlights India as a hotspot for Aussie travel as cricket world cup gets underway

    New data from Booking.com has highlighted India as a top destination for Aussie travellers as many make the journey to support the national cricket team in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

    With cricket enthusiasts gearing up to watch the spectacle it has been revealed that Australia is one of the top five cricketing nations visiting India for the tournament this year.

    The top five list also includes the UK, Netherlands, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.

    It’s no surprise Aussie’s have cricket fever with a 31 per cent increase in searches for flights to India for departure dates in October compared to the previous month (September).

    Overall, the data reveals a significant rise in inbound travel to India, with flight searches from cricketing nations showing a 15 per cent year-on-year increase.

    It also shows there has been significant increases in searches to top cricket destinations in India from Aussie’s.

    New Delhi takes out the top spot with a 40 per cent increase, followed by Mumbai at 65 per cent increase, with Bangalore taking out third noting an astounding 390 per cent increase in searches.
