MSC MD talks change, family & thinking outside the box

MSC Cruises’ Managing Director, Lynne Clarke, thinks there’s nothing better for the industry than thinking outside the box, with change such a permanent fixture, especially for cruise.

Here, she shares with us the 5 big things she’s learned throughout her time in the industry.

1. RESILIENCE

Face adversity with positivity. Taking the initiative to start MSC Cruises Australia and New Zealand meant committing to the idea and following through for every action.

No matter how overbearing something may get, I always wake up with renewed vigour and energy. This assists me to push the boundaries of what is possible.

2. DON’T FEAR CHANGE

Change is the most natural thing in the world, so it’s best to embrace it and be part of the journey.

MSC Cruises continues to evolve and change, so we need to take note of the change, no matter how great or small. There is a solution to every issue, you just have to think outside the box.

We are proud to have initiated many of our own systems and technology.

3. INVOLVE YOUR TEAM

Often a solution may come from the least expected person or place. The MSC Cruises team are positive people and the individual commitment to our group effort has created great outcomes.

Be proud of what you do, no matter how big or small it is.

Every person plays an important role and if you are passionate and committed the rest comes more easily.

4. VALUE RELATIONSHIPS

MSC Cruises is a family owned and operated company and relationships are highly valued. We even promote families working together.

There are mentors all around us. This ensures the success of the business and is a great way to maintain relationships.

Without some of our partner relationships the company would not have progressed to such great heights.

5. LAUGH

Laugh at least once a day, and take a moment to reflect on the wonders of life itself.

Don’t make important decisions or take actions if you are feeling emotional or hungry. Breathe and wait a few moments.

Take the time to reflect on the outcome, and consider what you are really trying to achieve. And remember, be proud and kind to yourself.
