Midweek Profile with Sabre’s Frank Trampert

Midweek Profile with Sabre’s Frank Trampert

This week, we took the managing director and chief commercial officer Sabre Hospitality Solutions for a leisurely stroll. Okay fine, this interview was done via email.

The challenge for the industry is…

Simplification and an outdated technology stack – which means that for technology providers, solutions must be integrated, configurable, easy to use, globally relevant and scaleable, comply with regulations and ultimately, drive incremental revenues.

Hoteliers need to recognise that prolonging decision making around platform rejuvenation will limit the ability to compete and attract & retain a digitally transformed customer.

The things I like about my job…

The complexity and global nature of the business.

And the frustrations are…

That there are never enough hands on deck to capture the opportunities.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

In construction.

Favourite airline?

The one that doesn’t wake me up for breakfast.

My proudest moment was…

To realise that fatherhood is epic.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

To eat my darling’s favorite ice cream (Weis Mango Sorbet) during a late night conference call.

I try to relax by…

Getting lost in a good movie.

The last time I feared for my life was…

Being in open ocean water in a small canoe with a panicked wife and approaching storm while a curious manta ray came too close for comfort.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Reacting without reflection.

I really wish I had…

Started my international career earlier in life.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

Don’t sweat the small stuff and listen three times more than you speak.

I don’t understand why people…

Are unhappy.

My greatest weakness is…

Well…ice cream.

And my greatest strength is…

Eating it without anyone knowing about it.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Add it to my children’s educational fund and help friends & family in need…and buy more ice cream.

If I was prime minister I would…

Be an advocate for diversity.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be…

A UN diplomat.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

South America.

My favourite holiday was…

A recent trip with my family to Cherating, Malaysia. The country has so much potential!
