Midweek Interview with Tamas Hanyi, Regional Sales Manager Asia Pacific, Airberlin

Tamas takes some time to talk the challenges of a competitive industry, the allure of a quality flat white and an aversion to traffic jams.

The challenge for the industry is… delivering a travel experience which consistently exceeds customer expectations. This is critical for maintaining customer loyalty in a competitive industry.

The things I like about my job… are travelling and meeting interesting people all over the world.

And the frustrations are… when things don’t move quickly enough. I’m impatient and always want things to have happened yesterday.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… enjoying life working in another industry.

Favourite airline?  I’ll give you a hint – it was born in Berlin and calls Berlin home.

My proudest moment was… returning to university and completing my degree after a five year ‘travel break’. It was rewarding to finish what I’d started.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… no comment! J

I try to relax by… sitting down with a quality flat white without my BlackBerry.

The last time I feared for my life was… that moment hasn’t come yet.

If I can, I always try to avoid… long queues and sitting in traffic jams.

I really wish I had… learned more languages when I was young.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… “don’t make decisions when tired or angry and don’t make promises when happy”.

I don’t understand why people… sweat the small stuff.

My greatest weakness is… taking shortcuts.

And my greatest strength is… taking shortcuts.
