Midweek Interview with Shaun Swanger of Caesars Entertainment

Midweek Interview with Shaun Swanger of Caesars Entertainment

The vice president of The Linq and High Roller takes some time to talk all things Vegas, making flying fun again and a fear of pigeons.

The challenge for the industry is… from my perspective, the weakening Australian dollar and what that means for Australians’ ability to come and play in Las Vegas!

The things I like about my job… It’s very rewarding to see how much people love my property and the High Roller. Everyday I witness tens of thousands of people just having a great time!

And the frustrations are …  Las Vegas is very competitive.  There’s a new ‘next best thing’ every week.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… a world famous pop star

Favourite airline?  Virgin America.  Domestic airlines in America are so painful.  Virgin saw a gap and made flying fun again.

My proudest moment was… Packing up my life and moving to America, eventually getting a green card and now working for one of the world’s most respected casino/hospitality companies.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… Phone the school principal pretending to be my mother so I could swap subjects for the new year (and succeeded)

I try to relax by… working out and travelling of course!

The last time I feared for my life was… I was travelling through Brazil, had a momentary lapse and looked the wrong way when crossing the road, stepping out right in front of a bus

If I can, I always try to avoid… pigeons, and narrow minded/intolerant people

I really wish I had… a great singing voice

The best advice I’ve ever received was… if someone looks good or does something good, compliment them.  Chances are no one else will. (my mum)

I don’t understand why people… Take so long to go through security at the airport.  I mean… it’s always the same, you don’t know what to do by now???

My greatest weakness is… ice cream

And my greatest strength is… Managing teams and setting vision/strategy

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… by the coolest mid-century house in Palm Springs, California

If I was prime minister I would… legalise gay marriage

If I could be someone else for one day I would be … President Barack Obama

I’ve always wanted to travel to… South Africa

My favourite holiday was… Travelling with my American partner last Christmas back to Australia to meet my family and friends.  Awwwww.
