Midweek Interview with DANIEL TOBY, NSW/ACT/TAS State Sales Manager, AAT Kings

The challenge for the industry is….This industry is always fast paced and dynamic. Key is not only keeping up to date but being ahead of the trends.

The things I like about my job…I love this industry, always new and interesting people to meet and if you are like me and have a passion for travel then its worth its weight in gold.

And the frustrations are …Meetings that do not have an agenda and any follow up.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…Probably working in politics. Sadly I do enjoy a good political debate and watching Q&A on Monday evening.

Favourite airline?Well that is a very good question and I will give a very diplomatic answer… I will say that we have some fantastic Australian carriers that are definitely world leading in service.

My proudest moment was…Last year graduating from my Bachelor of Business while still working full time. I had put it off for years but finally completed the degree.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… What happens in Vegas, Montreal and Phuket… stay in Vegas, Montreal and Phuket.

I try to relax by…Tuning out at the gym and listening to my Spotify playlist.

The last time I feared for my life was…This afternoon when a truck reversed towards me on a one-way street and wasn’t going to stop! The joys of being a on the road sales rep!

If I can, I always try to avoid… Peak-hour traffic and cheap white wine.

I really wish I had…Never ending bank balance. That way you can plan more holidays!

The best advice I’ve ever received was…Work smarter not harder.

I don’t understand why people…Drive 20kmph in a 70km zone and do not indicate when merging into your lane.

    My greatest weakness is…Chocolate.

And my greatest strength is…Determination, once I want something I will work hard to achieve it.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…Use the money towards buying a house. You don’t get much these days for $1 million dollars in Sydney

If I was prime minister I would…Take Bronwyn’s helicopter out for a spin.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a…President Barack Obama. I think it would be interesting to see what goes on in the Oval Office.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…Cuba. I think it would be amazing to experience.

My favourite holiday was…That’s a very hard one. Probably my last holiday as I got engaged to my partner in Montreal.
