Midweek Interview with Bunnik Tours’ Lachlan Burnet

bty

This week, we rocked business development manager Lachlan Burnet’s world. No really, we went to a rock concert.

The challenge for the industry is…

Retaining qualified, passionate people to work within the industry itself.

The things I like about my job…

Visiting my agents on sales calls, imparting knowledge and famils!

And the frustrations are…

Sydney traffic (and the level of tolls!).

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

A pilot or cabin crew.

Favourite airline?

Big: Cathay Pacific. Small: Oman Air.

My proudest moment was…

Losing a tour group of 12 people for 14 hours, finding them again, and they never knew we were separated! (Long story!).

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

Many many things I can’t mention when I was a tour guide.

I try to relax by…

Flying business class and chilling out in a five-star hotel shut off from the world.

The last time I feared for my life was…

During a huge amount of turbulence on a flight.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Being where I need to be at the last minute.

I really wish I had…

The looks of Channing Tatum.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

Never complain about a day when you can get out of bed – coz a lot of people can’t.

I don’t understand why people…

Want to be nasty about others behind their backs.

My greatest weakness is…

Any kind of lavish dessert. And cold beer.

And my greatest strength is…

Loyalty.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Take 50 of my friends somewhere amazing overseas and have a huge shindig!

If I was prime minister I would…

Increase funding for aged care, nurses and disablity care, build decent public transport.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a…

Astronaut on the International Space Station.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

North Korea – it would be so different, and so weird!

My favourite holiday was…

Last year: three months long service leave and travelling with no real plan – just wake up and go somewhere new!
