Intrepid Travel has brought back its ANZAC Day Dawn Service Tour for 2023.

Designed to honour and pay respect to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in Gallipoli, this tour will offer a moving and educational experience.

With one tour capped at 44 people, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for travellers in Australia and New Zealand, with travellers starting their trip in Istanbul, Turkey before their six-hour journey to the Gallipoli Peninsula.

“After two long years of uncertainty, we are pleased to announce the return of our ANZAC Day Dawn Service Tour for 2023,” said Brett Mitchell, Intrepid’s regional managing director.

“With the COVID-19 pandemic bringing the tour to a halt for the last 3 years, 2023 will see the opportunity for Australians and New Zealanders to visit the country that holds so much meaning on this very special day.”

For any Australian or New Zealander visiting the Shores of Turkey, a visit to the battlefields of the Gallipoli Peninsula is a must. The tour promises to be a sombre affair with a night spent under the stars and participation in the moving Gallipoli Dawn Service.

Sample highlights from the tour include:

  • Travelling to the solemn battlefields on the anniversary of the landing and wandering through Anzac Cove to the Nek and Lone Pine
  • Walking through the trenches, attending a moving dawn service and hearing the stories of heroism and camaraderie immortalised in Australia’s Anzac history

Important Itinerary Information:

  1. No hotel accommodation is provided in Gallipoli. Travellers will sleep out under the stars as the ANZAC’s did many years before
  2. This Short Break Adventure starts at 11 am on Day One, and finishes at approximately 8pm on Day Two
  3. Travellers will be picked up on Day One from a centrally located Hotel listed in the itinerary

This event is organised by the Australian, New Zealand and Turkish governments and details can change. Attendees of the dawn service and ANZAC commemorations should register online with either the Department of Veteran Affairs in New Zealand and/or Australia HERE.
