How to travel in true celebrity style
Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, so it’s no surprise that LAX sees more than its fair share of celebrities.
At the newly revamped LAX, you don’t need to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to get a celebrity treatment that rivals that of the rich and famous.
Five ways to live it up like Hollywood royalty in LAX:
Head for the lounge
Airline lounges carry an air of unattainability and exclusivity. The reality is that they are not simply the domain of those with a million dollar bank balance and the first class airline ticket to match.
While some lounges restrict their use to those with a valid airline ticket, many of the other airline lounges allow you to purchase a day pass.
A pass for Virgin America’s lounge at Terminal 3 costs USD$30, while an American Airlines pass carries a USD$50 price tag. Delta Airlines offers access to its Terminal 5 lounge for USD$59, while those with economy Delta ticket or an American Express Platinum or Centurion Charge Card, including those issued in Australia, can get in for free.
To gain access to Air Canada’s lounge at Terminal 2, Alaskan Airlines’ lounge at Terminal 6 or Korean Airlines’ Sky Team lounge at Tom Bradley International Terminal, you simply need to be a member of a program called Priority Pass. Annual membership to this program starts from USD$99.
So why not treat yourself? You’ll be sipping on champagne in no time.
Pamper yourself
While celebrities may have make-up artists, manicurists and masseuses on call, it’s not often that the rest of us make time to indulge with a massage or a beauty treatment. But if you have a few hours to spare, why not?
It’s the perfect way to wind down before take-off and get you in a peaceful state of mind to catch some sleep on your flight.
Head for XpresSpa in Terminal 5 and Tom Bradley International Terminal where you can choose from a wide range of treatments, from massages to facials, that will have you feeling like a Hollywood star in no time at all.
Indulge in some fine dining
It is no secret that A-listers have a major soft spot for West Hollywood’s Petrossian, which serves up smoked fish and caviar accompanied by the finest champagne.
Now, visitors to LAX can also get in on the A-list action thanks to the launch of LAX’s very own caviar and champagne bar at Tom Bradley International Terminal.
With more than 20 different vodkas and a range of the finest bubbles to accompany their famous caviar, Petrossian makes for a truly luxurious dining experience. Not so keen on caviar? There are plenty of other goodies you can sample.
If you are rushing for your next flight but don’t want to miss out on your taste of celebrity cuisine, grab a Petrossian picnic pack, complete with an insulated carry on pouch, to carry on-board for an inflight snack like no other.
Upgrade to a golden ticket
It’s a fact that airline fares are more reasonably priced than ever before, so why not take advantage and treat yourself to a premium fare? The perks in the airport alone can make the extra outlay worth every cent.
Who wouldn’t want American Airlines to send a chauffeur-driven Cadillac to meet them on the tarmac to ensure you make tight connecting flights in time, and in style?
Or invest in Delta’s DeltaONE to experience its “reimagined” check-in process which includes a dedicated service team which will check you in and take care of your luggage while you are served a refreshing drink . All of this happens even before you are expedited through security to the comfort of the airline’s lounge.
Splash some cash
Even if you’re uncertain of what to splurge on, you can play the part of a star and engage the services of a personal shopper to help you navigate the racks and find the perfect jetsetting outfit.
There’s no shortage of designer boutiques at LAX to satisfy all those high end shopping cravings that rival your most brand-loving celebrities. From Hermes to Gucci to Burberry, there is something for every shopper out there.
So why not make the most of your time in the airport to treat yourself to some goodies or a chic new look?
