HOTEL GUIDE: The hottest places to stay in Singapore
Singapore has been undergoing big changes as of late, shrugging off its old identity as a layover or business travel destination and fast becoming a dining and drinking paradise.
As the country grows into its new role, a whole spate of new hotels have been popping up and existing hotels have been treated to makeovers to meet this new demand.
Stay in the know with this list of countries newest, and most luxe hotels so you know where to stay as you eat your way through Singapore.
What’s new:
November 2017
Novotel Singapore on Stevens is nestled at the edge of the bustling Orchard Road area, yet still within easy reach. Featuring 254 guest rooms, three dining outlets and a state-of-the-art Infinity Pool, along with its sister property the Mercure Singapore (see below) it was awarded Gold in the 2018 Melbourne Design Awards for its creative architecture: the shape of the complex is designed to form the Chinese character 人 (Ren) which means “people”.
November 2017
Located next door to the Novotel Singapore on Stevens, the influence of the nearby colonial Black & White bungalows are seen in the Mercure Singapore’s bold black lines in the lobby, while the bamboo curtains that were used to keep out the hot sun have been replicated in their restaurant for nostalgia. 518 guest rooms with modern design feature art pieces reminiscent of Singapore’s 1960s and 1970s.
Conrad Centennial Singapore by Hilton
February 2018
After undergoing an extensive renovation, the Conrad Centennial Singapore is now better than ever. Feel the buzz of Marina Bay with easy access to the area’s top food & retail destinations, or relax with on-site amenities that include four unique restaurants and lounges, a pool and luxurious spa facilities. 511 guest rooms have been redesigned, along with a new glass-enclosed event space and an art collection featuring over 3,400 pieces by both local and international artists.
April 2018
Six Senses Duxton is a new addition to the vibrant Tanjong Pagar historic vicinity, uniting a row of heritage trading houses that have been sustainably restored by acclaimed British designer, Anouska Hempel. 49 guestrooms have unique individuality so that no two are exactly alike, but include oriental wallpaper from her personal collection.
Sister hotel Six Senses Maxwell is set to open in late 2018 and will be located just minutes away, with an interior by French architect and designer Jacques Garcia, reflecting authentic colonial-style decor, but with a stylish modern twist.
Coming soon…
Q3 2018

The grand re-opening of this iconic hotel is planned for the latter part of 2018, with three new suite categories (Residence Suites, Promenade Suites and Studio Suites) and refreshed dining concepts.
The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore
Q4 2018
This ultra-luxurious hotel is an art deco jewel, housed in the heritage jewel that is the Capitol Building and adjoining Stamford House. It will feature 157 guest rooms and a leading international restaurant under the helm of a Michelin-starred chef.
Q4 2018
A luxury collaboration with Dusit International, the flagship Singapore property will feature a resort-style clubhouse and 208 rooms overlooking breath-taking views of two championship golf courses – Laguna National Golf and Country Club’s Masters. Indulge in the luxury of Dusit Thani Laguna’s in-house spa facilities, “secret gardens” and stylish, golf-themed bar and restaurant.
Capri by Fraser
Q1 2019
The second Capri by Fraser to open in Singapore will be in China Square Central and catered to millennial travellers by combining the services of a smart hotel with the amenities of a full serviced apartment. High-tech, social and design-led experiences include a guest experience app, robots, rooftop swimming pool and all-day dining.
April 2019
The Village group of hotels by Far East Hospitality comes to Sentosa with the soon-to-open Village Hotel at Sentosa offering energetic, fun, and vibrant experiences catered specifically for families. 606 cosy guestrooms with a coastal theme are inspired by its resort location by the sea.
April 2019
Those seeking a kids-free environment instead, will find the answer in The Outpost Hotel at Sentosa. Designed as a trendy island getaway for adults and couples, 193 guestrooms are done in a stylish interpretation of colonial black and white design. A rooftop pool and bar present a perfect backdrop for evening cocktails, candlelit dinners and intimate celebrations.
August 2019
Rounding the group’s Sentosa offerings is The Barracks Hotel at Sentosa, which aims to take guests back to a cherished time of romance and charm. Luxury of space is offered through 40 guestrooms and suites, coupled with exquisite service and a sophisticated, elegant décor inspired by the property’s colonial past. An exclusive pool provides the idyllic setting to take a dip or lounge with a classic cocktail amidst the tranquillity and privacy of the heritage buildings.
2022
Hot off the press, Accor Hotels have recently announced they will open a luxury Pullman on Hill Street in the heart of Singapore’s civic colonial district. The 342-room hotel will be the city’s first Pullman, and will feature a rooftop bar with sweeping views over Fort Canning, the Singapore River and St Andrew’s Cathedral.
