Fiji Airways unveils new flights for Aussies heading to the Pacific

Fiji Airways, Fiji’s national carrier, has announced the launch of increased services to the popular holiday destinations of Tonga and Samoa, as well as additional benefits for its Tabua Club Members.

The airline has also announced it was awarded the best food and beverage in the South Pacific at the recent APEX Passenger Choice Awards.

Amid rising demand amongst Aussies looking to holiday in the South Pacific, Fiji Airways has added twice weekly overnight flights to Tonga and thrice weekly overnight flights to Samoa from Nadi, Fiji.

Australians now have greater options to travel to Samoa and Tonga via the tropical paradise of Fiji, with the new overnight flights joining the airline’s existing daylight services. Fiji Airways now operates up to seven flights a week from Nadi, Fiji to Samoa and up to five flights a week to Tonga.

Talking about the expansion of its services, Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Andre Viljoen said: “As we approach the peak travel season over the holidays, we are excited to offer Aussies more connections to South pacific destinations with new overnight services to Tonga and Samoa from Nadi, Fiji.

“Flights to Tonga and Samoa are performing ahead of expectations with the majority of the traffic coming out of Sydney.

“However for December, we’re seeing a surge in demand to travel from Brisbane to Tonga, and in January we are currently seeing a spike in demand to fly from Melbourne to Samoa.”

The tropical destinations of Samoa and Tonga only recently re-opened borders from 1st August 2022, after being closed to international tourists since March 2020. Samoa lifted all travel restrictions for international travellers from September 2022 and to visit Tonga you now only need to show proof of vaccination.

Aussies can book return economy flights to Tonga with Fiji Airways from just $685 AUD and to Samoa from just $840 AUD.

The introduction of additional flights to Tonga and Samoa adds to Fiji Airways’ growing network of destinations and services which currently includes Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, the US, Singapore, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and Canada which launches from 25th November 2022.

Award-winning food on board Fiji Airways

Passengers from more than one million flights have just awarded Fiji Airways the best food and beverage in the South Pacific at the APEX Passenger Choice Awards. The Business Class menu is refreshed quarterly and infuses elements of Fijian Cuisine with fine dining techniques like Kava and cinnamon ice cream, dehydrated vegetable garnishes and infused Nama and toasted coconut ice cream.

This accolade joins a string of recent awards for the airline, including Best Airline Staff Service in Australia & Pacific at the 2022 Skytrax World Airline Awards and the APEX IFSA Award for Best Onboard Amenity for its Our Ocean, Our Life Kids activity pack.

Points Hack: Greater benefits for Frequent Flyer members

From this month, Fiji Airways and British Airways have launched a new frequent flyer program partnership. Fiji Airways Tabua Club Plus members and British Airways Executive Club members are now able to earn and redeem mileage rewards and points when booking to travel with either airline.

Members from both airlines can now enjoy added benefits like priority check-in boarding, lounge access, plus many others when travelling with either Fiji Airways or British Airways.
