Cheating claims rock successful Visit Britain’s royal quiz night

Claims of mobile phone misbehaviour sent shockwaves through the crowd at Visit Britain’s Coronation Celebration in Sydney last night.

The event was held at Since I Left You – also known as SILY – on Kent Street.

Decorated superbly as a street party, the event took place in the middle of a week bookended by queens. Marking both the coronation of Charles and Camilla, and Eurovision which takes place in Liverpool this weekend.

As in all quiz events, even the most nonchalant of contestants voiced their disapproval at claims of cheating.

But, like many royal tabloid headlines, there didn’t seem to be too much truth behind the claim.

Nine teams faced off in five rounds of questions as well as a special paper plane fly-off at the end of the event.

There were some amusing team names from Penny Mordaunt’s core strength, to Equizabth.

There were also points awarded for humorous answers, that came in handy for one team which named Mr Holden Commodore as the designer of the golden coach which transported King Charles and Queen Camilla to and from their coronation.

It was also suggested by some that Prince Harry may be the biggest selling fiction author in British history.

The final event, a paper plane competition, was dominated by Qantas staff, likely fresh from design classes at Project Sunrise.

Their planes weren’t for turning, flying past the cheese and cracker platter to distances not thought achievable.

The number of Australians travelling to Britain has continued to increase, a trend organisers of the bunting covered event will be keen to see continue.

And, with the spotlight on Britain due to Eurovision and the coronation, the level of exposure for the destination will have its tourism board singing in the reign.
