Celebrity Cruises marks return to NZ waters

Celebrity Cruises celebrated its return to New Zealand waters yesterday after 946 days, with the debut of Celebrity Eclipse – the third cruise ship to turn in Auckland since the pandemic.

Celebrity Eclipse was welcomed into Auckland this morning, following a transpacific sailing from Honolulu, and brought into Ports of Auckland by ‘Sparky’, the world’s first full-sized all-electric harbour tug boat.

Making her way to Sydney for the first official sailing of the 2022-23 season in the region, Celebrity Eclipse will welcome guests aboard on Saturday, 22 October for a 12-night itinerary exploring the wonderful landscapes of New Zealand – the first of 17 sailings departing from Sydney and Auckland through to April 2023.

Celebrity Cruises vice president and managing director of Australia, New Zealand and APAC, Tim Jones, said: “Today is a huge milestone for Celebrity Cruises and the local Auckland community with Celebrity Eclipse officially making her debut in New Zealand waters.

“We are extremely grateful for the support of our valued travel partners and guests and look forward to sharing in more celebrations together as we Journey WonderFULL throughout the Australia and New Zealand season.”
