Captain Cook Cruises partners with Seabin Project to reduce ocean plastic

Captain Cook Cruises has teamed up with Seabin Project to reduce plastic waste in Sydney Harbour.

Captain Cook Cruises was out on the Harbour with Sunrise on Channel 7 yesterday, sharing its lineup of entertainment, and dining experiences on spectacular Sydney Harbour.

Pete Ceglinksi (CEO) and Tom Batrouney (Operations & Experiences) from the Seabin Project, announced the strategic partnership with Captain Cook Cruises to reduce the plastics in Sydney’s Harbour, with the Seabin project to date removing 100 tonnes of plastics and litter from Sydney Harbour.

“We are proud to partner with the Seabin Project as we believe we have a responsibility to protect our beautiful Sydney Harbour, we’ve been cruising the Harbour for over 50 years and through our partnership, guests can have comfort knowing that every cruise booking is helping us do our bit to clean up and protect Sydney Harbour,” said Nick Lester, general manager of Sealink.

The operator also revealed an uptick in its luxury offering due to a post-pandemic need for ‘revenge living’.

While the most popular experiences among Sydneysiders and travellers alike are still the lunch and dinner cruises, its more indulgent products such as Mumm Champagne Harbour Bar, High Tea at Sea and the Penfolds Gold Dinner experience are becoming increasingly popular.

Plus, it seems like Captain Cook Cruises is a pretty decent place to work, revealing 54 per cent of its permanent crew working at Captain Cook Cruises for an average 19 years.
