AFTA Owners & Managers Survey Results

AFTA Owners & Managers Survey Results

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) have reported results from its 2016 Owners & Managers Survey indicate a “positive sentiment surrounding business growth and performance”.

According to the board, participation was up 40% year on year, and in light of the positive outlook, 41% of businesses are seeking to employ new staff.

With regard to ATAS accreditation, AFTA said results showed it continues to be a highly valued element of membership and an important indicator of quality when approaching new customers.

“Other high-ranking benefits are Government policy and advocacy work and a listing in the ATAS directory. AFTA receives more than 2,700 directory searches every month from consumers validating that a business is accredited and in October alone visitation was up +138% compared to the same period last year,” AFTA said in a statement.

Commenting on the results, AFTA Chief Executive, Jayson Westbury said significant growth in ATAS website traffic “is but just one example of growing consumer awareness. In October alone our digital activity reached over 1.3 million consumers including 31,559 consumers who watched the ATAS TVC”.

“Members should be confident that AFTA is committed to the continual approval of services that ensures growth and best practice. The current environment enables travel agent businesses to be agile, proactive and forward thinking and we believe ATAS plays a vital role in that,” Westbury said.

As part of completing the survey, one member, italktravel Castle Hill Manager, Joanne Miller was announced as the lucky winner of two business class airfares to Hong Kong courtesy of survey sponsor, Cathay Pacific.
