Why AFTA is a "mongrel"

Why AFTA is a "mongrel"
By admin

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) is the mongrel while ATAS plays nice, AFTA’s Jayson Westbury has told the Helloworld Owner Managers Summit in Wellington.

The AFTA brand punches above its weight but there needed to be a split between the public image and the advocacy work, Westbury said.

“The nasty brand is AFTA and ATAS is the nice one in conversation with consumers.”

“The AFTA brand is well known but it’s known as the mongrel.”

AFTA’s most recent point of contention was minister Scott Morrison’s suggestion that credit card surcharges gouge the customer and should be no more than 0.5%.

“We have written him a filthy letter.”

Westbury championed the decision of immigration to scrap the departing passenger card at Australian airports, which will be disbanded at the end of next year.

“What AFTA is really about is representing you to the mongrels – the politicians,” Westbury said.
