Aerolineas Argentinas to scrap routes

Aerolineas Argentinas will eliminate its six weekly flights between Buenos Aires and Brasilia along with some domestic routes, company sources told EFE.

The Brasilia route, seen by the new management as insufficiently profitable, will be replaced by additional service to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the sources said.

Aerolineas also plans to drop routes serving the southern Argentine cities of Rio Gallegos and Comodoro Rivadavia.

Last month, the state-owned carrier rescinded a co-operation agreement with private airline Sol, which quickly suspended operations due to “a situation of economic inviability.”
