Tigerair commences Top End route

Tigerair commences Top End route
By admin

Tigerair Australia has launched daily services between Brisbane and Darwin, set to bring 2500 extra visitors to Darwin per week.

“Darwin represents a gateway to the quintessential Northern Territory outback that thousands of budget, leisure and adventure travellers have on their personal bucket lists," Tigerair Australia CEO Rob Sharp said.

“In responding to this consumer demand it makes commercial sense to connect Brisbane, the heart of Queensland, with the Top End and provide a cost effective means of getting quickly between the two," Sharp said.

It is hoped that Tigerair's new route will attract price conscious travellers to the Northern Territory, tourism minister Matt Conlan said.

"Transport is the facilitator for achieving the Northern Territory Government's vision for Darwin and the Territory to become Australia's trading route and logistics hub into Asia. This can only be realised if we have strong aviation links," transport minister Peter Styles said.

"With the dry season on its way, the new flights are timed perfectly for a whole range of passengers to discover Darwin,” Northern Territory Airports CEO Ian Kew said.
