Outrage over unsecure MH17 crash site
By admin

The horror of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 continues as the Malaysian government expressed concern today that the crash site is "now under the full control of separatist groups."

Arriving in Kiev on Saturday morning, A Malaysian team of 133 officials and experts headed to investigate the MH 17 crash site, but they have been unable to get to the area to recover victims' remains and retrieve the aircraft's black boxes.

According to statement released by the Malaysian government, armed rebels have prevented the Malaysian recovery and investigation team from getting to the wreckage of MH17.

Australia’s Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has called on Russia to support any United Nations resolution that seeks to secure the site of the MH17 air crash, saying Australia and all countries affected by the tragedy are demanding the bodies be handed over to the independent experts.

"I would expect Russia to fully support any resolution that seeks to secure the site and establish an independent investigation,” Bishop said.

In total, 298 people were killed in the Malaysia Airlines tragedy including 37 Australian citizens or permanent residents. So far, about 200 of those bodies have been moved to refrigerated railway carriages near the crash scene in eastern Ukraine.

In light of the recent incident, Malaysia Airlines has retired the flight number MH17 that flew the Amsterdam (AMS) – Kuala Lumpur (KUL) service, out of respect for our crew and passengers of the mentioned flight code.

This will take into effect on 25 July 2014, with the new flight number being MH19. The airline has advised there are no changes to the frequency services and they “will continue to operate daily services between Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur.”

Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines has apologised for insensitive social media posts after MH17 was shot down in eastern Ukraine on Thursday, killing 298 people.

The airline posted updates stating its own flights were not using Ukraine airspace, which triggered a flood of angry responses, with many attacking the airline for not offering condolences to the victims' families.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) issued a public apology on Saturday and expressed solidarity with families affected by the air tragedy.
