Long serving Travel Corporation manager Philippa Walker has been appointed to the newly created role of Uniworld head of marketing.

Uniworld managing director John Molinaro said Walker will strengthen the brand's relationship with partners in addition to identifying new marketing opportunities.

She has been with The Travel Corporation for more than a decade.

Boeing has completed what it described as an uneventful 787 test flight on Saturday but there remains no timeframe to when the Dreamliner will return to the skies.

It was the first test flight since airlines around the world grounded their 787 fleets three weeks ago following a number of battery-related problems.

The Liberal Government in Western Australia has vowed to build a new airport rail link between Perth Airport and the city by 2018 if re-elected.

Tourism Council WA welcomed the plan, saying an efficient transport connection is critical to the tourism infrastructure.

"You don't get to host major world events if you can't move around masses of visitors from the airport to the city," chief executive Evan Hall said. "With an airport rail link and an international stadium you can start thinking about World Cup and the Olympics."

Cunard will give passengers a sneak peak of the inner workings of its three liners during a Behind the Scenes Tour. The three and half hour tour costs US$120.
