New Zealand to host largest ever Aussie trade famil

In October, 250 Australian travel agents will cross the Tasman for Tourism New Zealand’s largest ever trade famil and training event.

Held in partnership with Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia, the famil will see the agents converge on Auckland for a day-long regional training workshop experience before heading off on one of 12 itineraries to see what the destination has to offer from October 15 to 20.

The program recognises the importance of the Australian trade for the destination’s tourism industry, according to general manager Australia Tony Saunders.

“Providing agents with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge through regional training workshops and an action-packed itinerary will allow them to more confidently sell New Zealand,” he said.

Itineraries will focus on the products showcased through its Australian marketing activitiy such as coach touring and special interests like cycling.

“Our touring campaign promotes both ‘self-drive’ and ‘coach touring’ holidays, something that we know our Australian target audience responds well to,” Saunders said. “A number of itineraries will therefore showcase New Zealand’s hidden gems, iconic attractions and the proximity of these experiences.”

The tourism body will also use the famil to promote its 100% Pure New Zealand online training program to the trade, while Air NZ will push its own online training scheme at the same time.
