Midweek Interview with Talbot Henry, national sales director, SureSave

The challenge for the industry is….managing the complexity of the market and the ever-increasing knowledge of a highly-educated consumer.

The things I like about my job are…working with people who are passionate about what they do.

And the frustrations….that there are only so many hours in a day.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be….dreaming of being a professional athlete.

Qantas or Virgin: Virgin…. I have a Platinum Velocity Card and always feel looked after.

My proudest moment was….winning three Gold Medals at the World Masters Games in 2009.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was….I received a couple of days suspension at the end of Year 12 for some antics involving eggs, water pistols and female students at other schools.

I relax by….doing all things aquatic – usually at Bondi Beach.

The last time I feared for my life….swimming through the shark-infested waters separating Perth and Rottnest Island earlier this year.

If I can, I always try to avoid….sleeping in

I really wish I had….Marty McFly’s hoverboard from Back to the Future 2. Surely we should have these by now!

The best advice I’ve ever received was….always try to understand things from the other person’s point of view.

I don’t understand why…. so many people die from cancer and we’re taking an eternity to find a cure.

My greatest weakness is….my enthusiasm leading me to take on too many things.

And my greatest strength….my ability to turn challenges into opportunities.

If I was prime minister I would….not get into a drinking contest with Bob Hawke.

If I won $1 million on the lottery I would….pay off my mortgage, rent out my house and travel the world.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be…. Kelly Slater or Glen Plake

I’ve always wanted to travel to….South America

My favourite holiday was….hiking the Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayas for my mum’s 60th birthday. An amazing experience and incredible to share with my family.
