Booking.com has launched a new platform called Epic Accommodations, which intends to celebrate some of the world’s more unique properties and inspire travellers to embrace a sense of adventure when organising their next trip.

In a recent survey of almost 39,000 travellers, Booking.com discovered that nine out of 10 travellers would like to stay somewhere out of the ordinary, like a castle or treehouse, yet most agreed that practical considerations like price and facilities tend to take top priority.

“Everyone has their own version of an ‘epic’ stay,” Booking.com’s chief marketing officer Paul Hennessy said.

“With Epic Accommodations, we are celebrating that spirit of adventure, as well as some of the world’s most interesting accommodations – and sending the message that choosing somewhere unusual doesn’t mean compromising on practical considerations.”

The survey also revealed that the majority of travellers noticed little details when staying somewhere, such as the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the breakfast, and even the tea and coffee facilities.

The Epic Accommodations platform contains insights into the travel habits and preferences of travellers from nine countries, encompassing the US, Europe, Australia and Asia, as well as presenting a selection of those travellers’ favourite unusual accommodations from across the globe.

Booking.com then created the Epic Accommodations shortlist, ensuring each property was both awe-inspiring and practical, taking customer reviews into account as well.
