MAS retires MH370 flight code as search continues
By admin

Malaysia Airlines will retire its MH370 and MH371 flight codes as a “mark of respect” for the passengers and crew aboard the aircraft that vanished on March 8, almost one week ago.

The new flight number for the Kuala Lumpur to Beijing service will now be MH318, with Beijing to Kuala Lumpur now known as MH319.

“There are no changes to the frequency of our services and we will continue to operate double daily services to Beijing,” the airline said.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of our colleagues and passengers of MH 370.”

Last heard from at 1.30am MYT on March 8, flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing was carrying 227 passengers, including six Australians, and 12 crew members.

Meanwhile, authorities in Kuala Lumpur have admitted that no progress has been made in establishing what has become of the flight, despite reports ranging from debris sightings to a witness who claims to have seen the aircraft go down.

The search effort continues with ships and aircraft from 12 countries now involved in the operation which has been widened to include the Indian Ocean.
