Free breakfast an Aussie essential

Lastminute.com.au has released new data that suggests a free hotel breakfast is among the top inclusions Aussie travellers look for when booking a hotel.

In a survey of more than 5700 people, 89% say that a free hotel breakfast is a must-have hotel freebie ahead of any other freebie, including a free upgrade and free parking.

Free upgrades were top choice for 79% of people, 72% elected a late check out, 71% preferred free wifi, 56% wanted free parking, and 44% went in search of complimentary wine.

Lastminute.com.au’s spokeswoman Louise Ryan said the research shows Aussies not only love scoring a freebie, but are also getting more bang for their buck, with more hotels offering complimentary inclusions for guests.

“Knowing our penchant for inclusions, hotels have started getting more creative and fun when it comes to freebies, with lastminute.com.au hotel partners offering everything from complimentary sangria jugs, to espresso martinis, spa treatments, cooking classes and even petrol vouchers for savvy consumers,” Ryan said.

The company also shared its hot tips on nabbing hotel freebies, which include being flexible with your property, booking mid-week breaks, travelling in off peak seasons and politely enquiring about upgrades on check-in.
