Don't think of us as home-based, says Travel Counsellors
By admin

Retail firm Travel Counsellors is attempting to shake off the stereotypes associated with home-based agents as it seeks to grow its profile in the Australian marketplace.

General manager Australia, Tracy Parkinson, told Travel Today that people often think of home-based agents as only part-time or “not as serious or professional” as traditional bricks and mortar agents.

“But that’s not what we are,” she insisted. “In fact, it’s the exact opposite – we are made up of only full-time professionals that are looking to build up a good business.”

The amount of support offered by the firm to its members in terms of marketing, commercial services, IT support and accounts enables them to focus on servicing their customers as best they can, according to Parkinson.

“We do talk about being a home-working company but that probably puts us into the wrong bracket,” she said.

“People should think of us instead as travel professionals –working from home doesn’t come into it.”
