The Gold Coast is preparing to host representatives from across Queensland's tourism industry as it was named the location for the second annual DestinationQ Forum.

Premier Campbell Newman confirmed the event will take place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from August 27 to 28.

He described last year's forum, held in Cairns in June, as a "landmark event".

"The first DestinationQ Forum was about creating a partnership agreement and a strategy to get tourism back on track," he said.

"Queensland is a great state with great opportunity and when we come together again in August we will be working towards establishing a 20-year plan to build a vision for the industry that reflects that."

Meanwhile, tourism minister Jann Stuckey confirmed the event will give delegates the opportunity to assess the results of the 12-month key action plan set out last year.

"The plan outlined more than 30 action items including red tape reduction, encouraging private sector invetment, marketing and eco-tourism opportunities and I am pleased to say we are on track to meet all of these," she said.
