Cathay overhauls retail fare structure

Cathay overhauls retail fare structure
By admin

Cathay Pacific has said a new retail fare structure that comes into effect today will be simpler and more flexible for customers and travel agents.

Sales and marketing manager, Julie Reid, said the structure will bring greater consistency and remove many of the existing fare rules.

“The fare structure is a result of conversations with many travel agents throughout Australia about how we could make things better for them and their customers,” she said. “We have reduced the fare rules from eight to three and introduced consistency across our fares to make it easier for the agents to understand.”

From today, retail fares will have no minimum and a 12 month maximum stay, free stopovers in Hong Kong and the ability to mix cabins.

In addition, payment by credit card on every fare will incur a flat fee of $30, with the exception of flights from Australia to Hong Kong which incur no charge. There will also be no rebooking fee for all year-round retail fares while open jaw sectors will be permitted within regions.

Cathay said it is still working on a similar simplification of its corporate and wholesale fares in consultation with travel agents.
