48 hours in Dubai

48 hours in Dubai

Dubai is constantly evolving, with new attractions, developments and hotels opening each year – it is now no longer a city you can completely see in 48-hours, however some travellers are time-poor and want to experience Middle Eastern culture en-route to Europe, which is why Dubai is a great place to stop.

Travel Weekly spoke with Dubai Tourism’s Julia King to find out how to make the most of a Dubai layover.

Day 1

Spice_Souk

Travellers can tap into the cultural offerings of Dubai with a visit to the Sheik Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, gaining insights in the Emirati way of life while trying some traditional Emirati food. They can then head to Kite beach for some water sports or just relax on the beach; spend the afternoon climbing to the heights of the world’s tallest tower, taking in the panoramic views of the city at afternoon tea at At.mosphere, shopping for bargains at the world’s largest mall, or bartering for traditional items at the textile, gold and spice souks. In the evening, stroll along the shores of Dubai Creek and enjoy the city by night.

Day 2

dubai desrt

The next day, if they have a craving for some great Australian coffee, send them to Tom & Serg café, who do a great flat-white and have taken the Australian coffee scene to Dubai! A trip to the desert to enjoy a day of dune-buggies, sand boarding and falconry can follow. Top off the trip with dinner at a world-class restaurant, like Al Muntaha, which is headed up by Michelin starred chef, Pascal Aussignac, and then head to one of the many night spots in Dubai, whether it is a European-style beach club, or a rooftop cocktail bar.
