Philippine Department of Tourism hosts inaugural ‘dental, wellness and aesthetics’ tourism roadshow

    The Philippine Department of Tourism Australia/NZ, recently hosted the inaugural Dental, Wellness & Aesthetics Tourism Roadshow, stopping into Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
    Known for its attentive care and stunning backdrop for patient recovery, relaxation and recuperation, the Philippines currently ranks in the top 25 countries globally for health tourism according to the most recent MTA and International Healthcare Research Center rankings, with 250,000 health tourists (and rising) annually.
    Designed to showcase the vast opportunities the Philippines has to offer, the event kick-started in Perth (Mon 18 Sep), followed by Melbourne (Wed 20 Sep), Brisbane (Thu 21 Sep) and finally Sydney (Fri 22-Sat 23 Sep).
    Travel consultants and buyers in the health and wellness tourism space were invited to enjoy product presentations of the dental, wellness & aesthetics tourism portfolio followed by a delicious two-course lunch accompanied by updates from the Philippine Department of Tourism.
    Direct from the Philippines, famous singer-songwriter David Mercado played host throughout the roadshow and entertained guests with his music during the week-long event.
    Attendees at each event also had the opportunity to win incredible prizes including holidays to the Philippines, courtesy of national carrier Philippine Airlines as well as accommodation and service suppliers who participated in the event.
    Each event also facilitated Philippine suppliers and Australian buyers to meet face-to-face to create mutually beneficial business relationships.
    Some of the suppliers who travelled from the Philippines included representatives from Twin Lakes Hotel; PDA (Healthway Quailed Nuvalil), SUV Dental Clinic, Cebu; Oro-Facial Diagnostics & Esthetic Surgical-Center, Cebu; Bright Smiles Oral Care Center, Cebu; Royal Dental Clinic, Cebu; Urban Smiles Dental Clinic; Lift Aesthetic Clinic – NCR; The Farm at San Benito – Batangas and The Raya Clinic – NCR.
    “The Philippines have always been a popular travel destination amongst Australians, and we are glad it’s gaining traction for Health & Wellness Tourism as well,” tourism attaché, Philippine department of tourism, Purification Molintas, said.
    “The roadshow was the perfect opportunity to truly show what the Philippines and its suppliers have to offer Australian buyers.”
    Saturday’s event in Sydney saw that roadshow end on a high note with Philippine suppliers engaging with the Filipino community for a private banquet dinner event at the famous Misc. Restaurant in Parramatta.
    Guest of honour, Ambassador Helen dela Vega, alongside special guests comprising of business people, students, media and other delegates from the Filipino community met and mingled with the suppliers from the health and wellness sector who were visiting from the Philippines.
    Paulo Benito Tugbang, Director for Health and Wellness Tourism from the Philippine Department of Tourism, spoke highly of the event, “The inaugural roadshow in Australia was a huge success and really highlights the importance of creating awareness and opportunities for suppliers to meet with Australian buyers,’ he said.
    “We look forward to expanding on this success for next year, and we are already working hard to make it bigger and better.”
