Short term rental demand at record levels, Alloggio CEO reports

Australians returning to their natural holiday habits have been pushing demand for short-term rental accommodation to record levels according to Alloggio CEO, Will Creedon.

The short-term holiday rental accommodation provider said the rebound in domestic visitation was now in full swing.

“The great Australian beach holiday is well and truly back on the radar. Alloggio’s gross bookings increased a whopping 150 per cent on last year’s figures as people flocked to their favourite holiday hotspots along Australia’s east coast,’’ Creedon said.

“Australians are returning to their natural, pre-pandemic holiday habitats in big numbers.

“We are seeing strong northern migration from NSW and Victoria into Queensland. New travel habits have also been created with people exploring new destinations as a result of the pandemic, growing domestic tourism as a result. On the other hand, outbound travel has remained tight with expensive flights, restricted services and negative experiences around cancellations reducing the numbers of Australians travelling overseas. Inbound travel from overseas is yet to take off.

“Our experience is that overseas tourists still have the perception that Australia has been slow to reopen and we would encourage governments to invest more to bring overseas tourists back. We continue to experience momentum in domestic travel and welcome the return of international visitors.

“Pace remains strong as we witness a return to pre-pandemic domestic travel habits and patterns,’’ Creedon concluded.
