PHOTOS: Virgin kicks off annual pride flights with Melbourne debut

To celebrate Mardi Gras, Virgin Australia held its second annual series of pride flights from Brisbane and Melbourne making their way to Sydney for the parade.

Taking equality mile high, each flight consisted entirely of Virgin Australia LGBTQIA+ crew and allies, with special guests Dannii Minogue, Danielle Laidley, Sophia Cachia, Grace Hyland and Emily Seebohm joining in on the fun.

In Melbourne, guests were hosted by Coco Jumbo and Tora Hymen of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, while Brisbane was joined by Maxi Shield, again of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, together with Sydney drag royalty and Virgin Australia cabin crew member, Penny Tration.

“It’s just a celebration of the community and music, drag queens, colour, rainbows,” Minogue said.

To reinforce the airlines commitment to diversity, $30 from the sale of each Pride Flight ticket was donated to Minus 18 to lead change and build social inclusion for young LGBTQIA+ people.

In short, the drag queens were on, the drinks were flowing and it was a party not to be missed.
