TruTravels grows its range to cater for Gen Z post-pandemic

Life Changing Group Travel Experiences! Start your journey here: www.trutravels.com - #JustGo

TruTravels is expanding its offering for Aussie and Kiwi travellers with a fresh range of experiences, as the youth travel company introduces a new way of categorising its trips to appeal to Gen Z travellers.

The new categories will see the brand’s existing range packaged as ‘Classic’ trips, while three new styles have been introduced: FitVentures, SailVentures and Flashpacker.

Responding to new trends and with first departures in Bali and Thailand departing from October 2021 and well into 2022, ‘FitVentures’ caters to travellers seeking fitness-focused and wellbeing experiences such as beach-based boot camps, while ‘Flashpacker’ is a natural progression from a backpacker and epitomises the popular term coined for those travellers who are looking to ‘keep it real’, but with a splash of style and private accommodation.

The ‘SailVentures’ style enables travellers to live their best yacht life, combining exploration and action with ‘floatilla’ parties in Greece and Croatia throughout summer 2022.

“We know travellers are going to crave social adventures after months of border closures and separation from exciting experiences in other parts of the world, but at the same time, we are witnessing a shift away from sharing dorm rooms to a desire for personal space in terms of accommodation options,” TruTravels co-founder Mark Pope said.

“Our existing ‘TruTravellers’ are also growing up with us – they still want all the best parts of the backpacker experience, but with a bit more comfort, so the Flashpacker style is perfect for them.

“Additionally, there’s been a huge move towards increased health, wellness and mindfulness following the pandemic, and this is extending to how people choose their travel.

“Many travellers don’t want to spend a full week in a boot camp centre, so we’ve created our FitVentures tours to celebrate local wellbeing and great outdoor fitness, while still allowing the group to explore amazing destinations such as Bali and Thailand.”

The new trips will join TruTravels’ ‘Classic’ tours in destinations including Vietnam, Thailand, Bali, Mexico, Sri Lanka and Colombia.

TruTravels was acquired by G Adventures in 2018 to keep up with the “new, grassroots style of small group travel that was emerging for young people,” according to G Adventures founder Bruce Poon Tip.

The UK-based company was founded in 2012 by Pope and fellow entrepreneur Joe Fallon, who continue to run the company as partners and minority shareholders.
