Air New Zealand names new chief people officer

Air New Zealand has promoted Nikki Dines to be the airline’s next chief people officer, effective February 2021.

Dines (pictured above) has been with Air NZ since 2013 and has held a variety of roles within the Kiwi carrier’s people, airport and pilot teams, including as general manager of pilots and her more recent position as GM of people focusing on corporate, revenue and employee experience.

She will replace Joe McCollum, who will be leaving Air NZ in February after less than 10 months as chief people officer (he is on a fixed-term agreement, according to the airline) to resume his consultancy practice.

Air NZ chief executive Greg Foran said Dines has established a proven track record over the past seven years and is well respected for what she’s achieved in her various roles with the company.

“Nikki is regarded as an outstanding leader with considerable airline knowledge and experience,” he said.

“Her promotion into the role is a credit to the depth of talent we have within the airline.

“I want to thank Joe McCollum, who has played a critical role in helping Air New Zealand navigate the COVID-19 crisis and for getting us in a position to be ready to seize the opportunities ahead.”

Dines’ promotion is the latest in a string of recent changes to Air NZ’s executive team, with the airline having announced the appointment of a new chief financial officer last month, as well as the hire of a new chief customer and sales officer in October.
