G Adventures further suspends trips, launches Mt Kilimanjaro step challenge
G Adventures has announced it will further suspend all tours departing up to and including 31 August 2020.
The tour operator is not suspending tours beyond August 31 as it wishes to keep the door open in the event the current situation evolves in a way that enables travel again. However, it is offering travellers booked on tours departing up to 31 December 2020 the option to transfer their booking to a future departure date for the same price. Alternatively, they can pay in full and receive a 110 per cent travel credit for a future tour.
However, agents can keep learning about G Adventures trips with its Mt Kilimanjaro Steps Challenge – the third iteration of their famous Inca Trail Steps Challenge – chosen in response to a positive spike in enquiry to a number of its Mt Kilimanjaro and East Africa itineraries for 2021 and beyond.
Agents can enter as a team, individual, or both and accumulate their steps each day to discover just how much of Mt Kilimanjaro they can climb over a four day period. Along the way they will be provided with a daily Kilimanjaro fact blast, photos, videos, songs, podcasts and stories.
Over the course of four days, agents will be aiming to complete 77,500 steps across four days which, at roughly 62 kilometres, is the same length of the Machame Route of Mt Kilimanjaro – one of G Adventures’ most popular tours for Australians heading to East Africa.
The challenge will run from today to 11.59pm on Thursday 9 July, with results and winners to be announced on ‘Active Wear Friday’ on 10 July.
To get involved in the Mt Kilimanjaro Step Challenge, agents need to register online by close of business today.
From there, you’ll simply use the steps app on your phone (or another fitness tracker app) to track your daily step activities each day, and accumulate your team results to send to G Adventures GPS Jake Hilbert by 11am each morning.
