Go regional: Exploring the Central Coast hinterland

Now that regional travel within NSW is finally legal again, there’s no better time for Aussies to explore their own backyard and all it has to offer.

One such regional destination is the beautiful Central Coast and its hinterland region, which is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Sydney (or around 90 minutes, to be precise).

While typically during this time Central Coast Council would be running its popular Harvest Festival, unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions, the festival had to be cancelled this year.

However, Central Council, along with new creative agency The Misfits, had the clever idea to bring Harvest Festival to life on screen, with Harvest Festival TV.

Central Coast community members (and everyone else in NSW) will be able to explore Harvest Festival through exciting and visually stunning video packages featured on the Harvest Festival Facebook page and the council’s new Coast Connect YouTube channel.

Harvest Festival is one of the Central Coast’s most popular events – both with locals and visitors to the region.

Being able to deliver some of the magic of Harvest directly into people’s homes has meant that the annual tradition of celebrating the spectacular Central Coast hinterland can continue.

Central Coast Council encourages you all to sit down with your loved ones and enjoy this great content, showcasing the amazing local sites, farm and rural communities which make the hinterland region so special. Plus, be sure that you and your clients visit the region and buy local once it is safe to do so.

Central Coast Council and The Misfits have worked hard with the event hub partners to create four video packages: ‘Taste of Harvest’, ‘Paddock to Plate’, ‘Embrace the Adventure’, ‘Farmers’ Story’.

Each content piece shines a spotlight on one of the coast’s hidden gems – the beautiful, fertile and productive hinterland.

You can experience cooking demonstrations using the Central Coast’s delicious local produce, pick seasonal fruit (virtually), visit the region’s local farmers and hear their incredible stories, discover hidden adventures, and much more.

Tune in for the first video package, Taste of Harvest, on Saturday 6 June, shot at The Springs in beautiful Peats Ridge.

This episode takes you behind the scenes of The Sitting Duck restaurant with a cooking demonstration with head chef Dan Capper. Plus, you’ll get a taste of all the beautiful elements that make The Springs the wildly popular venue that it is.

The remaining three videos in the series will be released each Saturday for the next three weeks to give you a complete Harvest Festival experience.

Harvest Festival TV is proudly funded by the NSW government in association with Central Coast Council.

Watch it on the Harvest Festival Facebook page or the council’s new Coast Connect YouTube channel.
