Excite sets record straight on staffing rumours, confirms business deal discussions

Excite Holidays has rubbished rumours of unpaid wages at the wholesaler, while also confirming it is in discussions about a potential business deal.

Speaking to Travel Weekly, Excite executive director Nicholas Stavropoulos (pictured above) said that while there have been changes to senior staff over the last 12 months, he denied there were any issues regarding the payment of employee wages.

“Staff are paid up. [I’m] not sure where these rumours have come from,” he said.

His response comes after another travel trade publication reported “recent senior staff changes within the organisation, as well as layoffs and unpaid wages at its offices in Bangkok and Athens”, citing “unconfirmed sources”.

There has also been speculation in the industry that Excite is selling part of its business to a US company. However, Stavropoulos declined to comment on this when probed by Travel Weekly, other than to confirm that the company was in discussions about a potential business deal.

Stavropoulos also said Excite was still “working around the clock to assist passengers” after it suffered “system issues” in late December which affected a number of its bookings and calls.
