The travel companies recognised on Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies list

Intrepid Travel Group and Northern Territory Airports have been recognised for business performance in Deloitte Best Managed Companies (BMC) awards.

The two travel companies were among eight other Aussie businesses recognised by Deloitte Australia for outstanding business performance.

The program, established in Canada in 1993, uses Deloitte global insights and global best practices to identify and celebrate privately owned and managed companies across Australia that set the highest standards of business performance.

Intrepid was founded on the idea that a travel company could benefit both travellers and the places and people that they visit,” James Thornton, CEO of Intrepid, said.

“That sense of purpose has helped to fuel our growth and 30 years later, we have more than 2,300 staff and leaders in more than 90 countries.”

“Our people are the key to our success. We are united by shared values and a passion for what we do. The best-managed companies are committed to continuous improvement. That’s why entering these awards has been so worthwhile – it will help us to be better.”

Over a 12 month period, winners receive coaching from leading business advisors, networking opportunities via invitations to exclusive events including premium sponsor events, and key branding and promotional opportunities.

“The judges evaluated the strengths of applicants across four key pillars: strategy, culture and commitment, capabilities and innovation, and governance and financials – and these eight businesses are deserved winners,” Natalie Faull, Deloitte private partner and national leader said.

“It’s about celebrating the passion, focus, dynamism and growth that Australia’s best private companies are renowned for. They are often the disruptors – developing and adopting new technology swiftly, supporting local communities in unique ways, and always looking for growth and success beyond our borders.”

The news comes just one week after Intrepid announced it would be making changes to its management team to keep up with an unprecedented 16 per cent growth year to date.

Brett Mitchell, previously managing director for Intrepid Travel across the Asia-Pacific region, has been promoted to the global role of chief commercial officer and Sarah Clark, previously general manager of marketing across APAC, will has been named as managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
