South African Tourism takes agent training to a fun new level
Looking to enhance your knowledge of South Africa without setting foot in the “rainbow nation”? This new app is just the ticket.
South African Tourism (SAT) has unveiled a new way for agents to get better acquainted with the destination, no matter what their level of knowledge.
‘So You Think You Know South Africa. Think Again’ is a fun and engaging game-based training app designed to help travel consultants learn more about South Africa. That’s right – no need to hit the books, attend another conference or watch another webinar!
Better still, there is a very enticing incentive attached: the chance to win a spot on a fully hosted famil that includes flights, seven nights of four- to five-star accommodation (including a luxury safari lodge), most meals, activities, transfers, and game drives.
So, how do put yourself in the running for this fab prize?
Each time an agent successfully completes a level in a game, they earn stars (one star equals one entry, FYI). The more stars earned as they play the game, the more entries into the competition they will receive, and the higher their chance of being one of six winners.
The maximum number of entries one person can earn is limited to the maximum number of stars that can be achieved by successfully completing all levels of the game.
Agents can also bring out their competitive side as they play against other travel consultants from around Australia and New Zealand. Those with the highest number of points are listed on a leaderboard, so everyone knows who’s topping the rankings.
The competition runs from 2 October 2019 to 10 January 2020, before the six lucky winners are drawn at random on 15 January and notified on 17 January.
The idea for the app – which is available to download from the App Store and Google Play – came about in the first quarter of this year, with production of the game starting in June.
Speaking to Travel Weekly, Mosilo Sofonia, hub head for SAT across Australasia, says the organisation wanted to offer agents something different to the usual form of online training, and to give them a fun and interactive platform in which to learn.
“We wanted to make the game easily accessible so travel consultants can download the app and play the game on their phone whenever they get a spare moment, such as travelling to or from work or while on their lunch break,” she explains.
“As far as we know, this type of training game app is a first, so it should be an exciting option for agents to get involved with.”
Sofonia says another great thing about the app is that no matter how knowledgeable agents are about South Africa, they will still be able to effectively participate in the game and learn.
“Whether an agent has travelled to South Africa, or has sold South Africa a number of times, or has never sold or been to South Africa, all can play, learn and be in the running to win a spot on our famil,” she says.
To download the game and for more information, including full terms and conditions, click here. Alternatively, search ‘SA Think Again’ in the App Store or Google Play.
