Contiki celebrates young Aussie changemakers with five local ’35 under 35′ nominees
Contiki has revealed five local nominees for its annual ’35 under 35′ event, celebrating young change-makers around the world:
Lisa Patulny from Call Time on Melanoma, Jacob Pearce from Pearcey’s Pledge, Lottie Dalziel from Banish, Rikki Gibley from Wave After Wave Handplanes, and Madeleine Bell from Take 3 for the Sea.
With Contiki’s second annual 35 under 35 awards, the company is celebrating people who live with hope, who understand the impacts of human action and who work tirelessly towards actionable change for people, the planet and wildlife.
35 Under 35 is an annual awards program with a mission to uncover and celebrate the unsung young people pioneering change in the world – and to ultimately crown one as Contiki’s new Sustainability Ambassador.
Nominations were crowd sourced globally and the final list for this year’s awards has been determined by Seth Maxwell, CEO of thirst.
These five young Australian’s have made the final list with the overall winner to be determined by public vote. Voting for a young Australian that’s making an impact in the world, will contribute to the success of a cause you care about and ultimately, give the winner a strong platform to advocate for change. Votes can be cast at six-two.
Find out more about the initiative here, and explore other projects supported by Contiki on the Contiki Cares website and www.treadright.org.
AAT Kings and TreadRight celebrate World Oceans Day by taking part in a beach clean
In honour of World Oceans Day, Australian Guided Holiday expert AAT Kings and its sister brand Inspiring Journeys, along with its not-for-profit TreadRight Foundation, celebrated with local team members from Alexandria and Bondi Junction offices to make a conscious effort to give back to their local communities and #MakeTravelMatter.
The team worked together to clean the shorelines of the Kyeemagh Beach in Brighton-Le-Sands and were educated on ocean microplastics by Scott Wilson, the Director of AusMap to better understand the important changes we can make when visiting our favourite coastal locations.
Aligned with one of TreadRight’s three key pillars as the brands share a collective desire to conserve and protect the planet, wildlife and people of the local communities visited through their immersive journeys.
One year ago, The Travel Corporation’s family of brands pledged to remove all avoidable single-use plastics across all its operations and offices by the end of 2022; and that single-use plastic water bottles will no longer be made available for purchase on all TTC coaches this year. This action is expected to reduce plastic waste by over a million plastic bottles per year.
