Gate 7 has been chosen by Virginia Tourism Corporation as its representation firm for all Australian marketing activity.

The contract will see Gate 7 lead the brand’s local trade strategy, building and maintaining top of mind awareness of Virginia as a premier travel destination.

Virginia Tourism president and CEO Rita McClenny said: “We are delighted to begin a partnership with the highly reputable Gate 7 and utilise the team’s expertise to increase outbound travel to Virginia.

“Virginia offers everything travellers want in a holiday, from our 45 kilometres of warm, sunny beaches to the world-famous Appalachian Mountain Range.

“Whether you prefer to simply sightsee or adventuresome exploration, we feature a wealth of attractions to fit the bill.”

Gate 7 managing director Jo Palmer said: “We are delighted to welcome Virginia into the substantial portfolio of American travel destinations we now represent.

“Tourism is one of Virginia’s most powerful industries at present, bringing in billions of dollars in tax revenue and supporting hundreds of thousands of jobs for Virginians.

“We hope to replicate the trade marketing success we’ve had with our American destination partners with Virginia, and look forward to growing Australian travel visitation figures to Virginia in the months to come, and maintaining the positive economic impacts of tourism Virginia currently enjoys.”

Virginia’s trade marketing activities will be led by Gate 7 senior account manager Penny Brand.

This year also happens to mark the 50th anniversary of Virginia Tourism’s brand, ‘Virginia is for Lovers’.
