At least seven people have been killed and 21 are missing after a tourist boat capsized on the Danube River in Budapest.

It has been reported that the boat hit a river cruise ship near the Hungarian parliament building before turning over on the famous river, which is currently flooded due to heavy rain, according to Reuters.

The boat sank with 33 South Korean tourists onboard, along with two Hungarian crew members. Of the 33 tourists, seven have been rescued, but seven have died and 19 are missing.

A Hungarian National Ambulance Service spokesperson said 17 rescue teams were looking for passengers on water and ashore.

A spokesman for the owner of the boat, known as ‘the Mermaid’, told state television that it had sunk.
