SBS and NITV gear up for third season of ‘Going Places with Ernie Dingo’

National treasure Ernie Dingo is set to take viewers on the trip of a lifetime around Australia in the new season of his travel program Going Places with Ernie Dingo.

For the first time, SBS will kick off the new season with 16 half-hour episodes airing Wednesdays at 7:30pm from 12 June. Viewers can also take a deeper dive on NITV with 20 hour-long episodes airing Sundays at 7:30pm from 16 June, and catch up on episodes via SBS On Demand.

Dingo gets to every corner of the country in season three, taking in some of Australia’s most stunning landscapes on the way.

Locations this season will include Charlotte Pass (NSW), Horizontal Falls (WA), Yirrkala (NT), Hervey Bay (QLD), Grampians (VIC), Bruny Island (TAS), Ceduna (SA), Mount Kosciuszko (NSW), Broome (WA), Jindabyne (NSW), Stradbroke Island (QLD), Lake Mungo (NSW), Gold Coast Hinterland (QLD), Strahan (TAS), and Port Lincoln (SA).

Although Dingo visits some of the best spots on the map, the real jewels in each episode are the in-depth chats he has with the locals who call these places home, as they share their connection with the places they live.

In the upcoming season, Dingo meets a steam train driver, a snow groomer, a deep-thinking hiker, a passionate ecologist, a trout fisherman, a talented sculptor, an ALFW player and farmer, a former iron woman, a dinosaur enthusiast, and even some of his old friends.

SBS commissioning editor Josh Martin said: “Over the previous seasons of Going Places with Ernie Dingo, SBS and NITV’s audiences have really resonated with Ernie’s entertaining and enlightening exploration of Australia and the fascinating people he meets along the way.

“With so many breathtaking places left for Ernie to explore, we look forward to taking our viewers on many more journeys across Australia’s diverse landscapes.”

NITV channel manager Tanya Orman said: “Going Places with Ernie Dingo has been a firm favourite with NITV audiences for the last two seasons, and I am thrilled that it will be reaching even more Australians on SBS.

“Ernie has a long history of travel presenting on Australia television and our viewers have loved seeing him in his element, travelling the country and getting to know every day Aussies along the way.

“His open and relaxed interview technique brings out some amazing stories and viewers are in for a real treat as he visits some of the most beautiful places in our country.”
