The photographer, Andreas Hvid also posted a video appearing to show the pair climbing the pyramid last month that shows the woman taking her top off at the end.

He also posted a photograph of the two naked and on top of each other which looks to be also on top of the structure.

The video and image have triggered an investigation from Egyptian authorities and made a lot of people angry on social media.

Khaled El-Anani, the country’s minister of antiquities, told Al-Ahram newspaper that climbing the pyramid was strictly forbidden and the imagery was a “violation of public morality”.

“I demanded that experts be tasked with checking the video and determine whether they are real or fake,” he said.

“The explicit video has sparked fury and outrage among Egyptians in general, and the officials affiliated with the Ministry of Antiquities in particular.”

Speaking to Danish tabloid Ekstrabladet Hvid denied the pair had sex on top of the pyramid.

“I’m sad that so many people have become so angry. But I have also received a positive response from a lot of Egyptians — something I think is worth remembering,” he said.
